Acapella in the Amphitheater
Website: http://www.avpmusic.com/about.php
During the Founders Fair, come hear some of U.Va.'s best acapella groups perform in the Amphitheater! Performers will include:
-
THE VIRGINIA BELLES, the University’s oldest all-female acapella group. The Belles have been recognized by the Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards and featured in 2011’s Voices Only compilation of top collegiate acapella. They have opened for Ingrid Michaelson at the Music Inspires Health concert in Washington D.C., and have been covered by Fox News.
-
THE ACADEMICAL VILLAGE PEOPLE, an all-male a-cappella performance group founded in 1993 by a group of guys who thought, “well, this a-cappella stuff is pretty sweet, but let’s see if can’t have a little more fun with it.” And yep, they sure could. AVP combines top-class singing and bumping vocal percussion with rock-star performance technique and endless enthusiasm.
-
THE VIRGINIA GLEE CLUB, founded in 1871 and the University’s oldest musical organization, as well as one of the oldest all-male collegiate vocal ensembles in the United States
-
CHooSE, a Christian co-ed ensemble.
-
HARMONIOUS HOOS, a new, co-ed acapella group
-
HOOS IN TREBLE, whose most recent CD, released in the Spring of 2012, Chinese and Champagne, was nominated for Best Overall Female Collegiate Album, and features CARA nominated songs such as “Settle Down” for best female collegiate soloist.
-
NEW DOMINIONS, U.Va.'s premier co-ed acapella group
