Bombadil is a 4-piece indie folk pop group out of Durham, NC, known for their high-energy, uptempo live shows. After a year of playing together, the group jumped on an opportunity to share the stage with The Avett Brothers and subsequently signed with NC label Ramseur Records. In 2006, the 4-piece released their debut EP and their first full length, A Buzz, A Buzz, in 2008. In the same year, their career continued picking up speed leading them to slots at Bonnaroo, FloydFest, Pickathon, and Roots Reunion. After their sophomore album, Tarpits and Canyonlands, was released in 2009, Bombadil encountered a series of potentially fatal events when founding member Daniel Michalak (bass) suffered nerve damage in his hands and Stuart Robinson (piano) left the group to pursue an academic career. Fortunately, the band managed to piece itself back together the following year to release a third album, All That the Rain Promises and their most recent album Metrics of Affection. Check out their most recent project, Love’s Infrastructure, which is a collaborative puppet show adaptation of Bombadil’s music between the group and Duke Theater Studies professor Torry Bend.
